When I began working as an internal coach, I knew that to make a lasting impact it needed to more than just the coaching.
The right culture needs to be in place - you need to work to develop a ๐๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ช๐ก๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐.
Through this process I have begun to sketch out a rough strategy how one can do this.
Here are some of my learnings so far:
๐ญ. ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ป ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ - give them the opportunity to experience coaching first hand. This leads by example..
๐ฎ. ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ถ๐๐ปโ๐. Allow people to learn about you and gain their trust. Make it easy for people to feel safe.
๐ฏ. ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Allow them to do this during work hours. This communicates this is important to the organisation. Information sessions where people can see demos to witness what coaching looks like and feels like.
๐ฐ. ๐ก๐ผ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐/๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐/๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด and that is perfectly ok. Coaching is not for everyone.
๐ฑ. ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ/๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ - regular sessions, lightning coaching (short sessions with very clear focus), peer and self coaching.
๐ฒ. ๐๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ - this will take time.
