Learn. Do. Cycle

I’ve always liked to be prepared.

It makes me feel responsible when people say ‘We can always count on you to be prepared.’

When I’m doing something new, my typical plan looked like this:

learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn…

Then do. Lots of upfront preparation.

Most of this was to avoid making mistakes so I don’t have the guilt that I SHOULD have done more. Just one more hour, read just one more blog post.

I realised that it’s very exhausting to prepare so much for certain things and that it’s actually a way of hiding from taking action. Hiding from learning. So I’ve been making a conscious effort to take action sooner.

I want my process to look more like this:

learn, do, learn, do, learn, do.
